November 13, 2013 — Conductors, singers, theater actors, ballet dancers, directors, musicians, students of Russia's leading choreographic schools and circus performers will take part in the opening and closing ceremonies of the 22nd Olympic and 11th Paralympic Games. The Ministry of Culture will select an organizer for the ceremonies on December 13. According to a document for the tender on the portal of state purchases, more than 40 million rubles will be spent for this purpose.
The document notes that almost 1,070 people will take part in the ceremonies. The program will consist of four parts: music, dancing (ballet, historical, national and modern dances), circus art and multi-genre cultural projects. "All participants in the program should perform professionally," the document emphasizes. "They should have rich experience in performing in the world's best halls."
The opening ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place at Fisht Stadium in Sochi on February 7 and March 7, 2014, respectively. The closing ceremonies will be held there on February 23 and March 16. About 160,000 people are expected to watch them from the stadium and around two billion to see them on TV.
